- I am a news anchor/reporter who is the primary caretaker of my 68-year-old mother with terminal colon/liver cancer. I love animals (people included). I have a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in biology. I have a deaf cat, 3 rescue dogs and a snake. I brought my deaf cat along with me to live with my mom. She never listens to me.

ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry for your loss. I know you will get this a lot now and at times almost loses it's meaning, it becomes mechanical, people will say: "So sorry for your loss" and you answer:"Thank you." I am just lost for words now and don't want to say things that I did not like people saying to me after my brother's passing. I won't tell you "she's in a better place" or "be strong" ( I hated that one ). You don't have to be strong when you're grieving and even though I want to believe there is a "better place" I don't know that for sure. What I do know is that our loved ones are not with us anymore and it is hard. I also know that suffering is over and now we "only" have to deal with our own pain.
My thoughts and prayers are with your Mom, you and your family.

ReplyDeleteI'm always here for you. I rode as a passenger on this journey you took with your mom and I know how much you loved her. You gave 150% and it showed thru your loving care you gave to your mom. I feel truly blessed to be a part of your 'family' and to have known Brenda. I will never forget the special times she and I shared together... talking, TMC and even the front porch. She may not be here in the physcial sense any longer...but she will forever be in our hearts.

Your a very strong person, to be there by your mom thru all this, it takes a special person, and that you are. God Bless you and your family.
